Service Description

Drowning is Preventable, families need information. There is a SGNIFICANT connection between wandering and drowning. Kids with ASD are 160 times more likely to experience non fatal and fatal drowning than their peers. Drowning is silent and takes as little as two inches of water and less than 30 seconds. Kids with autism are DRAWN to water. They love the way it shimmers, bubbles, and feels on the skin. That paired with a lack of danger awareness, can easily lead to a lethal combination. Never leave a child unattended, no matter how much you think they wont jump into the water on theri own or seek out a neighbors pool. Be sure your child gets swimming lessons, don't assume that they cannot learn to swim. Many kids with autism are incredible swimmers after they are taught. 1. Always tell an adult before going in the water 2. Always swim with a buddy 3. Always wear a life jacket 4. Learn to swim and sign up for swimming lessons
